I’d like to experiment with animation and sound design to create a collection of works that explore how I interpret my surrounds, blending very real elements from everyday life with more fantastical elements.

I have been working with animation for a few years now and I love how much I can express with it and how much freedom I find bringing an idea to life.
I have just begun experimenting with sound design and I’d really like to bring the two mediums together, Using manipulated field recordings from the area to build up soundscapes that would influence the imagery.
I’ve always been fascinated with Synesthesia, in particular the relationship between sight and sound and how the two can play on each other, this is something I’d really like to use in my creative process.

I’d also like to work on some accompanying illustrated artworks using ink and collage and hopefully any new techniques and mediums I may discover during my stay. This would also be part of the development process for the animation works.

I think ComPeung and it’s surrounds would be incredibly inspiring and I’d love to be able draw on the local community, culture and natural surrounds, to explore new artistic possibilities.
Last year I had the pleasure of taking part in ‘Shiro Oni’ art residency in Japan. This was a great experience and it gave me a chance to really explore myself more as an artist.

I was able to take inspiration from the surrounding town and create works which celebrated simple scenes from everyday life and mixed them with odd characters that exist beyond the realms of reality, which for me seemed to be a very real way of capturing how I felt at the time.

I’m very fond of folk law, I like the Idea of exploring things that sit just outside reality and placing them in very real places as a way to describe things I couldn’t in any other way, in a similar way to how folklore is used to make sense of the unexplainable.
For the past 15 years I have worked as an illustrator and more recently as a 2d animator on a range of material, including Advertising, Cartoons, Children’s books, Games, Concept art and more.

In my free time I like to keep myself busy developing my own Art projects.
