The work created at ComPeung is an experimental installation designed to generate sound using techniques developed from previous experience constructing sound based works. The main focus of this work is to further explore mechanisms and the sound qualities of specific materials / objects.
For this project I chose to explore the use of water as a primary medium for creating percussive sounds. I experimented with the sound generated by dripping water onto a variety of found materials and chose to focus on working with a selection of tin cans. The tin cans proved relatively easy to acquire and provided a broad range of notes and tones giving the work certain musical qualities.
