Judy Jheung is a Vancouver, Canada-based interdisciplinary artist. Her work explores global issues in the context of urban movement. In 2009, Jheung took on the Artist in Residency at ComPeung, in collaboration with local groups and artists, she implemented a series of outdoor interactive, participatory games as an outdoor art installation, entitled, “Mind of the City_The 9th Step”. This premise of the work aims to evoke spiritual harmony, creativity and intellectual pursuit, embracing fluidity of change and chance and the effect of mindfulness. The residency project was supported by the Canada Council, Inter-Art Program.
Jheung holds a BFA from University of Calgary, an MFA from Pratt Institute, New York, and conducted PhD research studies on interactive “art games” at Simon Fraser University, SIAT. A recipient of numerous awards for her innovative projects, her work has exhibited across Canada and internationally.
