Listening is Doing<\/h3>\n

The story of Nang Nak (\u0e19\u0e32\u0e07\u0e19\u0e32\u0e01)<\/em> is a well-known Thai ghost story embedded in culture. It’s something most Thai people are familiar with.<\/p>\n

Language both facilitates communication and makes things very difficult. Under the umbrella of this project, I get to interact with people. My very limited Thai allows me to ask a question without understanding the answer. Working with a generous and talented interpreter sometimes provides insight, sometimes not.<\/p>\n

This project is an excuse to meet and talk with people. Using the frame of video & art, I’m allowed access to perspectives and situations. Language becomes a vehicle for not just meaning, but experience. Listening is learning and doing.<\/p>\n
