Eva de Jong (1989) is a Dutch painter with a great interest for the visible reality as we know it and the way we look at it and experience it. Her paintings are a search in understanding the relationship between reality and pictures, she chooses painting as a medium because it doesn’t only show the end result but also reveals the process of making leading up to it.
This way the process of making becomes part of the work itself. She uses elements of the trompe l’oeill (optical illusion) in her work to question painting and the way photography has influenced that.
